Emergency First Aid for Schools and Colleges
To support schools and their staff we are excited to offer the ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid for School and Colleges to help them meet their need for appropriate first aid provision. Unlike First Aid at Work, which does not include paediatric first aid, this qualification covers both adults and children, including resuscitation procedures for children up to 18.
Topics covered will include
- Assessments of situation and casualty
- Airway, breathing and circulation assessments, including emergency resuscitation
- Safe airway position
- Dealing with choking
- Dealing with seizures
- Treatment of severe bleeding and shock
Certification
Courses are accredited by ITC First Aid Ltd, who are regulated by Ofqual and the SQA.In order to receive the certificate candidates must attend the whole course and meet the required standard. On successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded the Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid for School and Colleges certificate, which is valid for three years.
Cost
The course fee is £80 (£70 for Sheffield school staff) which includes tutoring, a course handbook, use of training materials, course registration, certificate (if courses successfully completed) and refreshments.
Course timings
The course includes 6 hours of training and runs from 9am to 4pm.
Course location
The courses will be run in the Sycamore Suite at the J G Graves Woodland Discovery Centre, Abbey Lane, Sheffield, S7 2QZ. Directions are on the Friends of Ecclesall Woods website.
Catering
We provide hot drinks and other refreshments during the course but meals are not provided – you will need to bring your own packed lunch each day.
Further Information
The courses are of a practical nature and will involve “treating” other course members and acting as a casualty so you should come in appropriate clothing.
